Welcome to high school. English I is a two semester class and is required for graduation. Each semester is worth one English credit towards graduation. The freshmen English course consists of grammar, literature, writing, and speaking. The literature includes drama, short stories, and a novel. The students work to improve writing skills by studying grammar and by writing paragraphs and essays. The Iowa Core Literacy standards will be addressed
